I made instant Oatmeal packets on Monday. My kids love to eat to eat them and they end up costing so much money. So I looked up a few recipes online. The one I ended up doing was at http://www.stretcher.com/stories/00/001009e.cfm
I did do a few variations on it. One thing I did differently was on the dried apples, I added only 1 tbsp. of chopped apples. I also added instant powdered milk to every packet, it sneaks in some calcium for us!
I ended up making 3 flavors. Apples and cinnamon, cinnamon spice and a plain brown sugar. We ate them for breakfast this morning and it was so yummy. So hey try it! It makes a nice change from cold cereal!

We have oatmeal every single day. But not packets. Yours sound yummy. But mine sounds easier. Step one: open oatmeal canister. Add oatmeal to bowl. Step two: add water. Step three: microwave. Step four: add brown sugar and blueberries. Step 5: eat. =D
Looks like a great recipe! I'm too lazy usually to do Mary's way, and I agree that oatmeal pkts are too expensive... But even Annie (who usually requests Raisin Bran for breakfast) wanted oatmeal today...
Good idea to add the milk pdr, too. Brent will do that to a pkt sometimes if we don't have milk to cool it down with...
